Dr. Frank-N-Furter or Drag Makeup

Another look you should be able to complete with makeup many people have on hand.

Stitched-up Monster

I decided to do a look that many people could do, even with just basic makeup.

Animal Makeup

Animals are a pretty traditional Halloween makeup, although type of animal/level of ferocity differs by age group.

Halloween/Horror Makeup

With Halloween coming, I have enlisted the help of my friend Mariah McGarvey to put together some makeup ideas that anyone can do, and can do cheap. She's got a Bachelor's in Theatre, so will be cooking up some makeup looks that you can do with just stuff from the local dollar store. She has been talking about making half of her face with more advanced techniques and more detail, so that you can try to take your makeup to the next level. If there are any looks you would like to challenge her to design, send us a message, and she'll have a look at it.

So these designs will be intended for anyone, of any talent level with makeup, for either a last minute or inexpensive look. We both have had college Halloweens where we ended up doing something simple, solely because we lacked the materials to do something stunning.

Why You Should Watch Horror Movies

If you’re on this page, you’re probably already a fan of horror movies. As a matter of fact, so am I. But maybe you need an excuse to drag a friend or loved one to see a new one. Or maybe you want to rent a scary movie. Well, my fellow horror enthusiast, I’ve got the answer for you.

Coming Soon:

Why should you watch Horror Movies? What's the point? A horror movie can take up over two hours of your life, so why bother? I'm going to investigate the mental and physical advantages of taking the time to watch a horror movie.

The Truth About Ghosts

While there is some debate about the reason why ghosts stay behind to haunt the Earth, many agree on a few things:

Those Were The Days

Memoirs are increasingly common these days. But why? What value does a memoir have? I'd like to take this opportunity to talk about the importance of memoirs, as opposed to a journal or diary.

Do Not Weep at the World

Oyster Knife
With fishing “in the blood,” Tom has a healthy respect for the needs of both boat and man when at sea. He knows that knives are as necessary for a functioning fishing ship as fuel. As such, he’s got his fair share of knives on board.

If Music Be The Food of Love

How do you like your music? Want to end the "what format is best" debate, once and for all?

Tough's Playlist

What music do you think is in Tough's playlist? I'm going to listen to every song I get through message, comment, or even email! Then I'm putting together a playlist!

Tough's a gruff, mid-60s man, who's a big fan of vinyl, but rather open minded. What music would you see him listening to?

The playlist (although open to updates) is now open for listening! The mostly-complete list is found HERE.

Through the Eyes of Another

Today is one of my favorite days. Book Lovers' Day! In honor of that, I'm allowing a fellow bibliophile to post about Angela J. Townsend's books. Her name is Mariah McGarvey, and she is one of Ms. Townsend's editors.

FFTKs about Lighthouses

As you may have figured out from the poster, the lighthouse plays a major part in The Forlorned. It's the reason that Tom Doherty ever went to Canada, and to the island.

Coming Soon: Guest Post by an Editor of Ms. Townsend

One of Ms. Townsend's editors, Mariah McGarvey, has agreed to guest write a post for me. I've asked her to write her thoughts, opinions, etc. about Ms. Townsend's books, and perhaps the process. This will go live on Book Lovers' Day, August 9th.

The Horror Genre Leading Up To...

The First Horror Movie's Poster
As I talked about in Fear and the Power of Words, the horror movie genre has some pretty significant standbys. But what those standbys are has changed over the years. Let's have a look at horror movies through the ages, shall we?

Fear and the Power of Words

One of the things that Ms. Townsend mentioned when I was in contact with her, is how she brings horror to life.
